Welcome to Cathies weight loss website
It seems like almost every
day, a new
“miracle” diet is released, proclaiming that this
one “really works”.
I
guess most of them can work, short term, but, on a long term basis,
they are unrealistic because to maintain any weight loss we have to
change our eating style forever and if we are not enjoying our food then we will not maintain the changes.
I have to actually LIKE what I am eating. If I enjoy my food, I am much more likely to stick to any healthy changes I make.
It
has taken me many years and many weight losses and subsequent weight
gains before I came to the conclusion that DIETS DO NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!!
I
dieted
myself from 65 kilos to 137.6 kilos, over a 30 year time span.
During most of that time, I clung to the hope that with the start of
each new diet, “this time” things would be
different and not only would I lose the weight, but, I would maintain
that weight loss.
Instead,
after each weight
loss, I regained the lost weight and a few
kilos more.
Currently,
I am losing weight and maintaining the weight loss.
I have lost and
maintained a 28.8 kilo weight loss since October 2005. I am still losing weight because I need to and when I get to my goal weight I WILL maintain it because I actually like the foods I am eating.
From mid 2006 to mid 2007 I found myself slacking off. I was not gaining
any of the weight back, but, I was not losing it either. I seemed to
lose 2 kilos, gain 2 kilos and then lose 2 kilos, over and over.
Action
was needed.
I
took up a junk mail
delivery round and I currently walk for around 6 hours a week over 3
days, doing my deliveries. On the days I am not doing my deliveries I
fit in a half hour walk on my treadmill
The
weight is again coming off and my fitness has improved immensely.
I have Multiple Sclerosis and my balance is not good, but, I put the
junk mail in a trolley and I walk (very fast) using the trolley for
balance.
I spent a few months of 2007 blind in one eye and I still managed to do that
walking. Really, there are no excuses. As long as you can walk, DO IT.
In September 2007, some trial drugs I was on for MS caused a bad reaction with my
liver and I was ill for some weeks from that and I still did that
walking. It was hard. Really hard, but, again I say, as long as you can walk, DO IT.
What I am
trying to say is, that, no matter what, with determination and positive
thinking, weight loss can be done.
Short term, fad diets do not work, but, long term, if
we change our eating habits and make some sensible life style changes,
we can lose weight and maintain the weight loss.
I use calorieking.com.au
for my food diary (which counts your nutrition as well as
calories) and I keep my blog on there. I read and write on their
forums. I just love calorieking.com.au I cannot put into words
how it has helped me turn my life around and it is all FREE. How cool is that??????
